“Blur” for vocal, piano and electronics
(Midi Keyboard, Logic Pro Software and Macintosh)

Dedicated to Olgivanna Lloyd Wright
Lyrics: The Moon and the Yew Tree, Sylvia Plath

Olgivanna Lloyd Wright was the granddaughter of Marko Miljanov, a duke and general in Montenegro. She married Frank L.W. in 1928 and became not only his wife but his collaborator who continued to run the Frank Lloyd Right Foundation and the Taliesin West School of Architecture after his death.
Olgivanna was under the great influence of George Gurdjieff.
The composition “Blur” is inspired by work of Gurdjieff. As Olgivana wrote in her book “The struggle within” about “daydreaming blur”, the lyrics of the poem of Syliva Plath serves as a base for presenting inner struggles of individual. Different mechanism which exist as a construct of each human being, that Gurdjieff work presents, serves as a base for developing structure and dramaturgy of the piece.

Music and Socio-Psychodrama
Cycle "Penetrations"

2022.

The research project “Music-Socio-Psychodrama as a Key for Improvisation” is exploring the concept of creating new perspectives and approaches to the process of creation and development of a piece of art. Specifically, it addresses various possibilities to incorporate socio-psychodrama and its techniques (role playing, role exchange, etc.) into the process of creating a composition, through communication with performers. Different approaches to a piece of music and its creation, within the collaborative composition, helped recognising and understanding different aspects of improvisation and its possible future application.

This project has been realised by the support of Goethe Institute in Berlin.

2021.

The composition “Penetrations” is pioneering the concept of using the elements of Psychodrama in collaborative composition.

In that sense, this piece represents the first step towards exploring possibilities of using psychodrama elements as a part of the process in the creation of a piece of music or art in general.

The performers were invited to express their perception of Violence through their instruments, whilst assuming required roles.

Beside this score, there are also audio parts and audio score.

The improvisations the performers played as their reaction to first version of parts, became a part of the composition.

The final version of the “audio score” of the composition to be performed at the concert is the one the performers have not yet heard.

The composition “Penetrations” was made possible thanks to the creative contributions from Adam Starkie, Nejc Grm, Chris Moy as performers, and Jana Damjanov (Sociopsychodrama Trainer, Supervisor and Psychotherapist) as expert advisers during the creation process.

The process of creation of the cycle started on the day when Lili died (as mentioned in the electronics part of the piece), 1.11.2021.

The composition “Penetrations” also represents one of the first steps towards exploring possibilities of using psychodrama elements as a part of the process in the creation of a piece of music or art in general. It was made possible thanks to the creative contributions from Theda Weber Lucks (vocal) and Marcos Gomis (trumpet). This is the first version of piece and it was realised during the month and half residence in Berlin with the support from Goethe Institute.
